Computer based training refers to any type of educational exercises
presented on a computer, and web based training describes computer
based training delivered over a network, whether it is the internet
or a company's intranet. Elearning, which is short for electronic
learning, is a newer term and is synonymous with computer based
training. There are many advantages to eLearning over traditional
classroom and book based training. Travel to training sites is not
required, since courses deployed over the Internet can be accessible
to anyone with an Internet connection. Another advantage would be
the savings in regards to physical materials. Many companies are
moving toward a 'paperless office', and eLearning can have a major
impact on the cost of producing and maintaining hard copies of training
materials.
